Barbara, I find it crazy that sales management and sales people are still thinking that cold calling works in the B2B market. It doesn't...and further it's just unnecessary.

Today's Buyer 2.0 expects that we have knowledge of their industry, their company and even done some research on them to gain valuable insight. Gaining access into an organization with an executive level buyer requires that we make an investment in doing our research upfront -- it even helps us determine if we should pursue the opportunity in the first place. And when meeting with the executive level buyer's we need to get credit for having done our research. This is an important approach to quickly creating a credible relationship.

Thanks for weighing in with your thoughts, Veronica. Simon's message really got my attention, and I'm realizing how many people/companies do not know their why. It would explain why success becomes elusive for some and/or inconsistent for others. Really powerful way to think about business and life.

Barb,
I love this video and I've watched it about 5 times. It galvanizes some ideas that I've been fascinated with for a couple of years now, about why we sometimes breakthrough to do the things we've always talked about doing--and other times we don't. The line between desire and behavior is really crooked...unless you have the WHY.

Thank you so much for sharing this!
